Bocelli rocked the Pru Center
The sound system was exactly right. Maria Rodriguez, the coloratura soprano, was stunning and rocked her solos on the violin. Summertime, Fantasia's version, was excellent and showed why she's the standout R&B Idol of the past decade. The choir and orchestra were at the right levels, and the featured performers' levels were perfect as well. His voice was fabulous, coming through with full nuances and power. A really sweet hug in between songs. The first Act set list was a tribute to Verdi on the 200th anniversary of his birth, followed by 7 or 8 songs then finished with Puccini. The concert songs had power and excellent moments with a good set. After intermission, we got the popular music selections, weighted more to the recent albums. He played piano and sang on one. La Donna e Mobile was spectacular live, and Canto Della Terra was powerful. From the latest album Passione: Love in Portofino and La Vie en Rose. Ended with NY, NY as the screens showed a big I heart NY logo and scenes of him in the city. Then final encore was the usual finale he does with Con Te Partiro with the soprano and Nessun Dorma to end. The tour had the best sound dialed in for 13 years.
